A very nice way to remember my beloved friend, but a few small problems...

I had purchased this in a smaller size (from a non-Amazon seller) last year when we lost our little dog, so I was pleased to find the larger size when our other dog died this summer.
It is a well-made piece and very sturdy. There is space in the center for a collar and other keepsakes. We had hoped to be able to place the canister with her ashes inside (as we did for our small dog in the first one), but it was just a few centimeters too big to fit. We plan to sew a pouch out of her favorite blanket instead and place the ashes in that before sealing them in the cube (the opening is on the bottom and is held together by two sturdy screws.)
The picture size is odd. The description says it takes 3x5 photos (the same, and true, size for the smaller memorial we bought), but the actual size of is 3.375 x 6. We were able to print the pictures we wanted on photo paper using a laser printer by carefully enlarging/shrinking and/or cropping them to fit this unusual shape. If you are planning on using commercially printed photos I would go with 4x6, realizing that you will need to crop off .625 total off of the long sides to make them fit (the size of the opening is only a tiny bit smaller than the glass/backing.)
Overall, I am very pleased with these memorials. I feel like they focus on the happy lives of our two dear companions and all the joy they brought us and the design is much more pleasant to live with than an urn. |
